  1. 1. I could be missing out the clues my friends give to try to tell me I was being annoying or irritating.

    2. No. They are able to understand what happen around them.

    3. Some people are unable to pay attention to the road while talking on the phone and might cause accidents if the driver is not paying attention.

    4. The lesson might be a bore. The distractors might be a classmate. We could learn to concentrate on the lesson.

  2. 1. I think that the small things that are missing are people who are listening to the presentation while the rest are too noisy and the small things are like when someone is not doing your work and the rest doesn't care.

    2. It depends, whether if they are proud or just humble. Proud people will automatically just focus on themselves on their 'great' achievements. And if they are humble, they will listen to others and even if they have got the best marks for a subject, they won't boast about it.

    3. They could be playing games or doing their online homework during class or other events.

    4. Its definitely not possible to do 2 things at a time. The distractors may be the laptop, the things that we are doing (e.g. homework), and others around us. We could just tell them to focus on what is happening.

  3. 1) I could be missing out the small things that do not bother me. I could be missing out the small people that are not important.
    2) People are proud, and only wish to pay attention to themselves because they think other people are not as important as themselves
3)Technology allows us to obtain resources that suit our interests rather than focusing on the task at hand.
4)We are paying attention to the time and waiting for it to pass so we can get out of the lesson. The distraction(s) could be laziness. To help ourselves, we could engage ourselves in the lesson more and focus on the task.

    1.Old people, quiet people.

2.No. Most people do not think carefully of the consequences before they talk or act, thus hurting other people's feeling.

3.We may be distracted by chatting with people, making irrelevant noise or listening music.

    4. Why is it so difficult to concentrate and pay attention during lessons? What could be the ‘distractors’? How can we help ourselves and our peers to focus?
4.The environment may be dusty, the temperature too high or low. Air-con and people. By reminding them to concentrate.

  5. We pay attention to all the big things that are easy to see or spot. However, all the little things that could be just as important could be missed out. Thus, leading us to make numerous mistakes. Usually comes the phrase of : A stitch in times saves nine. The problem is that people are less observant to their surroundings, oblivious. They DO pay too much attention to themselves as they find they have too much problems and yet they do not realize that solutions were there all along. Sometimes, technology consumes the user into being addicted to using computers and others. An example can be that a lot of people, wherever they go, even while walking, their e
yes are always focused on their gadgets and so on. Thus, being oblivious to their surroundings. Students are often distracted in class, they would usually think about their own affairs most likely like gaming or engaging in conversations with their friends about irrelevant subjects during the wrong time.

  6. 1) The condition of Egypt, which is not commonly put on newspapers. All the books that I have read make my picture of Egypt like a desert, pyramids and rock houses.
    2) People are usually not paying attention to them selves as they usually cannot see themselves and how foolish they look.
    3) If I am engrossed in a computer game, I usually don't pay attention to what is happening in my surroundings or when my mum calls me.
    4) The jokes made up from funny phrases would distract us from the actual topic. We could focus on the topic first and at only joke at the end.

  7. 1. People tend to try to do things as fast as possible. It is just the natural attitude of people, but it is possible to reduce the "chong shuaness" of yourself. Like that, it is more possible to catch the smaller details which are equally as important as the big ones.
    2. People tend to wander off to "dreamland" instead of paying attention to things. This also the natural human nature, "laziness". It is very stressful and difficult to concentrate, so the laziness will prevent us from concentrating.
    3. Technology is very addictive and tempting when you are doing other stuff. It is even considered as one of the most essential things in life. Technology can be used to access many fun stuff, which is why it is so tempting.
    4. This is also linked to the human's natural nature, laziness. Although it can be concurred, it is very difficult to do so. In order to concur it, the lesson must be very fun to "attract" the students to pay attention.

  8. 1. I can be missing out on things such as when someone is trying to get my attention, or when people are talking to me and I am not paying attention, or sometimes I forgotten to bring something or remember something.

    2. No, as people sometimes forgot what they are supposed to do, bring or remember.

    3. Technology can distract me as the internet is a great distraction. It can give me access to anything on the internet.

    4. It is difficult to concentrate and pay attention during lessons as technology can easily distract us during lessons. The 'distractors' could be the internet, as the internet gives us access to almost anything. We can help ourselves and our peers to focus by reminding them not to do things not related to learning.

  9. 1) We sometimes leave out the people who are quite.
    2) Yes. Some people only talk among themselves and never listen and pay attention to the presentation sides.
    3) When teachers ask the students to use to learning device to access a blog or something else, the students might take that chance to go online on ichat or facebook etc.
    4) The distractions could be the people sitting around each other. They are very tempting to talk to and joke with. We can help by having self discipline.

  10. 1. I could be missing the stuff that people does not talk often about and only talk about it once or twice.
2.Yes,maybe. It depends if the talk/speech is interesting or not. They do usually if they feel bored.
3.It is distracting as it is very easy to use the internet for not important stuff.
4.The distraction could be the Macbook and the internet. We can listen and pay attention to the speaker. And encourage ourselves and our peer not to talk during the lesson.

  11. 1. Singapore's current affairs, less interesting news, etc.
    2. Yes. People always want to do their own things and do not want to pay attention to other people. So when other people talk to them, they would mostly think of themselves.
    3. It prompts us to use it to play games during lessons as the technology is just staring right in front of us. The computers are just right in front of your face, and it can surf the web, play games, listen to music, etc. So this is a major distraction when we are learning in school.
    4. There are other distractors that distract us during lessons. The 'distractors' could be friends, computers, noise, etc. We can tell our friends to stop talking during lessons and listen to the speaker. Or we can keep our mac books away from our reach and pay attention to the lecturer.

Q2. Do you think people are paying attention to themselves only most of the time? Why?

A2.Yes, they are very self-centred and only think of themselves most of the time and are only concerned if their problems indirectly
    negatively impact their own well-being.

A3.We use our Macbooks daily as 'learning devices' and due to the Internet, we can easily get side-tracked by surfing online games or logging on Facebook or other large networks.

Q4. Why is it so difficult to concentrate and pay attention during lessons? What could be the ‘distractors’? How can we help ourselves and our peers to focus?

A4.There are many other things that we prefer to do. The distractors would be things like games, books or jokes. We can look out for people who are distracted and help them concentrate. Also, we can exercise self-control and focus hard.

  13. 1. I could be missing out on the things that do not really bother me, and those things that I already know.

    2. They do not really pay attention to themselves, on how they are behaving, whether it can affect other people's lives. They usually just notice other people, their negative points, and do not notice their own one.

    3. Example, this computer/macbook, it makes me kind of addicted to it, so in the end, I do not really notice things around me already.

It is so difficult to concentrate and pay attention during lessons because of the macbook in front of us. The distractors are our sleepiness in class and the macbook in front of us. We can help ourselves and our peers to focus by tapping them on their shoulder when they are getting sleepy, and closing their macbook when it seems like it is distracting them already.

  14. 1. The small things that i am missing out are the people who are more quite and shy
    2. No, they know the consequence of misbehaving
    3. We will focus on the computer and thus will be distracted.
    4. Sometimes, the peers beside us could be distracting us by talking non-stop or we could be distracted by the Learning Devices. To help our peers and ourselves to focus, we have to be self motivated to listen and paying attention. We should also remind our peers to focus on the lessons.

    2. Do you think people are paying attention to themselves only most of the time? Why?
Yes, I think that people are paying attention to themselves more. During peak hours, when the bus is too full, people would squeeze on the bus even if it is not right to do so. They would stand on the steps of the bus.

    3. How does technology distract you from paying attention to your surroundings?
We tend to focus on technology more than the world outside. All our energy is focused on the things that is going on in our screens.

    4. Why is it so difficult to concentrate and pay attention during lessons? What could be the ‘distractors’? How can we help ourselves and our peers to focus?
The jokes that we make out of the content distracts us. We can remind ourselves to focus more on the lesson.

  18. 1.What most of us have, many others in the world may not. There are many disabled people out there.
2.They pay more attention to themselves most of the time, it is only human nature.
3.It captures 100% of your attention, leaves you too alert as the speed at which you converse online is too fast, not even leaving time to form a reply.
4.Some people may not enjoy the lesson/the subject/topic thus it may be hard for them to pay attention. People, the surroundings or the computer. If u see that your friend is distracted, ask them to try and concentrate and remind them to pay attention. We can ask them to do the same for us too.

  21. 1) Sometimes, just by listening is respecting the other party. For example, just by saying something that you might thing is funny, it actually hurts other's feelings.
    2) Well, it natural for every human being to want attention. However, listening FIRST before acting can make a big difference in your first impression in others. I think that most people that I talk or hang out with like to be the centre or attention. Most of the time, I will let them finish then I talk.
    3) To be honest, because of the advancement of technology, I am very distracted by the products I own. For example, the PSP my dad bought me last year was one of the main cause that I got quite low for my PSLE examinations. Then, when I own a Mac, I have been using various social networks EVERYday.
    4) Some reasons that prevent me from paying attention in class is that some people cannot stop giggling among themselves. An effective way is to just ignore them. A clap needs two hands. If one doesn't respond, the other will naturally stop.

  22. 1. We would just notice the obvious problems but not the small ones like the consequences of the solutions you propose.
    2. No, people normally pay attention to themselves before others. They are arrogant and put themselves before others as they want the benefits for themselves first.
    3. Technology is very addictive because it makes things easier for us. Example by traveling in a car, you would not notice/experience the outside surrounding.
    4. Some people would feel distracted because of the computer. We can tell them about the consequences of using the computers during class, the consequences would be like they would not know what the teacher is trying to teach you.

  23. 1) I could be missing out on the smaller components that make up the big one.

    2) Yes, they are. They are paying attention to themselves mostly because they "love their face" a lot and are very proud.

    3) We focus on technology and try to improve it but also forget about other things. It also entertains us up to a point where we forget about our surroundings.

    4) It is difficult to concentrate and pay attention during lessons because the weather is very hot. We could lower the temperature of our environment to a comfortable temperature to help us concentrate better.
